Makeup Trend: Baby Lips-Nashville Makeup Artist

So really these are called “Rosebud Lips” due to their rosy soft color, but I like to call them “Baby Lips” instead. They remind me of very young, soft, pouty, moisturized baby’s mouths. It’s definitely my favorite trend of the spring. To achieve this fresh and delicate look, make sure your lips are clear of dry skin. Next choose what you’ll apply for color. If you choose a lipstick, pick a color that is a soft pinky rose such as Makeup Forever ROUGE ARTIST NATURAL in Powdery Pink or MAC lip color in Snob. Using your fingers, gently pat the color into your lips to just give a light peep of color. You could also choose to use a gloss or balm. Rosebud Perfume Co has a juicy pink balm in Minted Rose. You could also try Korres Lip Butter in Quince. Just pat the color in with your fingertips, going slightly above the rim on your top lip, for a juicy pout.

Honestly, I don’t watch the Oscars for the awards. I mean, they are really awesome and all, but I am so far behind on movies I haven’t seen most of the nominated ones anyways. But I do watch the Oscars for the BEAUTY. So here are my favorite hair and makeup looks from the red carpet this year.

Viola Davis went natural with her hair do. I love when African American women allow those gorgeous tight curls to show.

Tina Fey had a chic, but fun bun. Buns were all over the heads of celebrities on the red carpet, but her’s was my fav.

Mara Rooney donned those red lips and a strong brow. It was so sharp and worked well with the hard line of her heavy bang.

Stacey Keibler had a great hair/makeup combo. Metallic shimmer eyes and a bronze glow with super loose soft, side swept curls.

Milla Jovovich proudly wore HOT red lips. Her crystal blue/green eyes really grab you. But I love the highlight on her cheeks.

Shailene Woodley is young and her fresh makeup with golden eyes, a natural lip & brow suited her so well.

Valentines Day is here! Unfortunately, Vday falls in one of the coldest months of the year. And cold weather can lead to some unsightly chapped lips. *GASP!* You can’t give away all your smoochy love to your Valentine with a crusty pucker. Yuck. So in order to ensure your lovely lips are kissable you have to take simple steps to get rid of that wintertime roughness.

*Warning: the following images are some pretty serious close ups of my face. Viewer discretion is advised*

Exfoliate! No need to buy an expensive lip exfoliator. Just use sugar and water.

Add just enough water to form a sticky paste.

Scrub it between your lips and all over, rubbing the sugar grit to buff off that ugly dry skin.

Rinse it clean, and apply a lot of juicy lip balm. I use Burt’s Bees Replenishing Lip Balm with Pomegranate Oil.

It’s best to do this at night, so the balm can really soak in and heal. Lips that are free from dry skin hold lip color better and look more full. You’ll be left with a super smoochable kisser! Bye bye crusty crusts!

I always like to ask my clients about their normal, everyday makeup routine before I get started making their faces super fab. Majority of the time, the women I work with are used to choosing their products from Target or Walgreens and are easily sold on CoverGirl ads of Taylor Swift. I believe that when you find a product you love, you should stick to it, regardless of where it came from or how much it costs. But I do want to make mention of a few cosmetic lines you may be overlooking.
